Custom Lettering
The type for this piece was developed based on inspiration from the smooth sailors of the original era of funk. The intent was to create something bold, fun, and indicative of a retro mind-state.
Vector Build
The logo was built entirely in vector format to allow for flexible scaling and usage - digitally or in print.
Highlights & Texture
Attempts were made to develop texture and lighting schemes to strengthen the letter-forms.
Sketch to Final
A few loose sketches lead to an initial type layout. The sketch was then brought into Illustrator to build vector shapes. Several rounds of refinement lead to the final mark.
